Karis Neufeld is a Ph.D. candidate studying comparative politics and mixed methods. Her dissertation examines the way state and non-state actors implement asylum policy in Côte d'Ivoire and Zambia. Her broader research agenda explores identity, state-building, and migration from both behavioral and institutional perspectives in Africa.

Karis holds a B.S. in International Studies and a B.A. in Economics from Indiana University. She previously worked as a Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant with Mennonite Central Committee in Goré, Chad and Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and served as an English teaching assistant in Mende, France.
