Current and Past PhD Candidates: What are they up to?

On November 2, 2021 PhD candidate Seo Eun Yang won first place for her poster at the Transnational Data Analytics Institute's (TDAI) Fall Forum poster session. TDAI is an institute based at Ohio State that brings together an interdisciplinary community of scholars, students, and community partners that "creates data-intensive solutions to grand challenges." 

The Fall Forum involved poster sessions and panels focused around "exploring the space between disciplines where foundational data science and analytics, domain applications, and creative expression." Seo Eun's poster was titled "Image with texts: Machine-Learning Visual Framing Analysis."

Jyhjong Hwang

PhD Candidate, Jyhjong Hwang published an article in August 2021 in Dædalus, the Journal of the American Academy of Arts and Science. Dædalus is published by MIT Press Direct. The article titled, An Offer You Can Refuse: A Host Country's Strategic Allocation of Development Financing, can be found in Dædalus Volume 150, Issue 4.

PhD Candidates Vladimir ChloubaDaniel Smith, and Seamus Wagner published an article on August 10, 2021 in the Comparative Political Studies journal. The title of the article is Early Statehood and Support for Autocratic Rule in Africa.

In Spring of 2019, PhD alum Dr. Melanye Price was appointed as an Endowed Professor of Political Science and principal investigator for the Mellon Foundation African American Studies Initiative at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas.
