Zhiqin Gao is a PhD student specializing in International Relations and Comparative Politics. His interests include security studies, political psychology, and diplomatic history, with a particular focus on Asia and US-China relations. His current research interests include rising powers, international order, comparative empires, and status in international politics.

Prior to joining OSU, Zhiqin received a BA in History, International Studies, and Political Science (honors) from the University of Washington, Seattle. In addition, he was a Global Leaders Fellow at the National Bureau of Asian Research and has worked as an intern at Asia Policy Point.
