Dr. Randall Schweller Receives the Joan N. Huber Faculty Fellow Award

Professor Randall Schweller was selected as Joan N. Huber Faculty Fellow for 2012 in recognition of his first-rate scholarship.  The award is given in honor of emeritus professor Joan Huber, who served as dean of the Social and Behavioral Sciences from 1984 to 1992 and as Ohio State’s senior vice president for academic affairs and provost until her retirement in 1993.

Dr. Schweller is a Professor in the Department of Political Science.  His research focuses on theories of world politics, international security, and strategic studies. He is the author of Unanswered Threats: Political Constraints on the Balance of Power, (Princeton University Press, 2006), and Deadly Imbalances: Tripolarity and Hitler's Strategy of World Conquest (Columbia University Press, 1998).

His articles have appeared in some of the top journals in his field including World Politics, International Studies Quarterly, International Security, American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Review of International Studies, and Security Studies. He is a member of the editorial boards of International Security, Security Studies, and the Studies in Asian Security Series (Stanford University Press). He was also named one of the top 25 scholars who have produced the most interesting scholarship in the area of international relations in the past five years by the Institute for the Theory and Practice of International Relations (2009).

During the 2012-2013 school year, Dr. Schweller will be teaching POLITSC 4315: International Security and the Causes of War, POLITSC 7310: Security Policy, POLITSC 2367H: Contemporary Issues in American Politics, and POLITSC 4300: Theories of International Relations.
