Pranav Reddy
Pranav Reddy’s career path reflects a unique intersection of political science, global health, and clinical medicine. His journey began at The Ohio State University, where he earned a degree in Political Science and developed a deep interest in the forces shaping health policy and societal well-being.
After graduating, Pranav worked in India as an AIF Clinton Fellow for Calcutta Kids, a maternal and child health nonprofit serving migrant families in the slums of West Bengal. His projects included: designing and implementing standard operating protocols for the primary health clinic, using data to monitor and evaluate program impact, and launching a diarrhea treatment center to address a critical health need. This hands-on experience exposed him to the complex realities of public health in underserved communities.
Pranav credits his OSU education for shaping his approach to global health. His thesis on health reform politics in India, guided by Professor Irfan Nooruddin, and courses on party politics (Professor Beck) and modern political theory (Professor MacGilvray) gave him insight into how political forces and ideologies influence health outcomes. These academic experiences helped him understand the systemic factors affecting maternal and child health in India.
Pranav later attended Alpert Medical School at Brown University and now practices as a psychiatrist (MD). His background in political science and global health informs his medical practice, allowing him to address not only the biomedical needs of patients but also the societal and systemic causes underlying their conditions.
