Ohio State Mock Trial Team Caps Season with Top-10 National Finish

As the academic year draws to a close, The Ohio State University Mock Trial Team is celebrating a standout season marked by historic wins and national recognition.
Earlier this year, the team secured a 1st-place finish at the University of Virginia’s Great American Mock Trial Invitational, becoming the only team in the tournament's history to go undefeated. Building on that momentum, Ohio State recently placed 9th in the nation at the American Mock Trial Association’s National Championship Tournament—extending the program’s impressive streak to nine consecutive appearances, the fifth-longest active streak in the country.
Among the season’s most notable accomplishments, senior Jonathan Hubbard was named an All-American Attorney, making him the first Ohio State student to receive the prestigious award in five years. Hubbard, along with several teammates, has also been selected to compete in "Trial by Combat," the premier individual collegiate mock trial competition, hosted by UCLA and Drexel University’s Kline School of Law. Following a 4th-place finish last year, Hubbard returns as a top contender in the June tournament.
The team credits much of its continued success to the steadfast support of Ohio State’s Political Science Department. “We extend our deepest gratitude to the faculty and staff whose guidance continues to propel our team to new heights,” team president, David Jones, shared.
Beyond accolades, team members have continued to develop essential skills in advocacy, critical thinking, and collaboration—experiences they say are preparing them for future careers in law and public service.
