This year, the department honored several students for their exceptional scholarship, research, and teaching. Daniel Smith received the Award for Best Dissertation. The Award for Best Paper Presented at a Conference was awarded to Edward Hohe and Katie Gouge for their co-authored paper, as well as to Kaveri Sarkar. Pim Trommelen was recognized with the Award for Best Published Paper. The Award for Best Seminar Paper was presented to Michael Gates and Sachintha Pilapitiya. In recognition of outstanding classroom instruction and mentorship, Kaveri Sarkar also received the Mathews and Gilkerson Award for Distinguished Teaching.
