The SKY Campus Happiness program is a meditative breathing program, and a fun way to relax the mind, increase resilience, increase energy, and gain equanimity and broader perspective on life when facing challenges. It helps participants to gain an inner connection with themselves, as well as an outer connection with other students, as well as their campus and community.  SKY has over 60 peer-reviewed research studies on it, documenting its benefits, with the most recent Harvard/Yale/Stanford study, in which SKY was found to decrease stress, anxiety, and depression in college students. Here are the scientifically documented benefits/outcomes of SKY:

  • Relieves anxiety & depression
  • Relieves and sustains relief in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms
  • Improved emotion regulation
  • Increased mental focus / heightened awareness as indicated by EEG Beta-wave activity
  • Increased levels of optimism and reduced reports of stress
  • Reduced levels of biochemical markers of stress (cortisol and lactate)
  • Increased levels of antioxidant enzymes (glutathione, catalase, and superoxide dismutase)
  • Enhanced immune system function
  • Improved cholesterol profile

There are three SKY communities associated with OSU: 1) students, 2) OSU staff and faculty, 3) the recovery community.

  1. Student group
  2. Faculty and staff program
