
Jack Goldsmith is the Henry L. Shattuck Professor at Harvard Law School, where he teaches and writes about national security law, presidential power, cybersecurity, international law, internet law, foreign relations law, and conflict of laws.
He is author of Power and Constraint: The Accountable Presidency After 9/11 (W.W. Norton & Co., 2012), The Terror Presidency: Law and Judgement Inside the Bush Administration (W.W. Norton & Co., 2007), and co-author with Eric Posner of The Limits of International Law (Oxford University Press, 2005).
Before coming to Harvard, Goldsmith served as assistant attorney general, Office of Legal Counsel from 2003 to 2004, and special counsel to the Department of Defense from 2002 to 2003.
He holds a BA from Washington & Lee University, a JD from Yale Law School, an MA from Oxford University, and a Diploma in Private International Law from the Hague Academy of International Law.
