Political Science Major Named Eminence Fellow

TJ Beavers, a first year Political Science major, joins the Eminence Fellows program with one goal in mind: challenging himself. He is currently working towards a Bachelor's of Science with majors in Political Science and Microbiology. He serves as the Associate Vice-Chairman of Government Affairs for OSGA. In addition, TJ is involved in numerous student organizations and opportunities around campus. He is the North Campus Residential Sentor for the Undergraduate Student Government, an intern, a member of the Government Relatios committee, a facilitator for R-Lead, a first year leadership program, member of the Honors and Scholars Programming Board and a Politics, Society, and Law Scholar. When asked about his acceptance into the Eminence Fellows program he explains:

"Coming to a school as vast as Ohio State can be quite daunting, and this was no doubt the overwhelming feeling I experienced when I first arrived. The Eminence Fellowship, however, was one of the few things that I did not find intimidating at first sight. Even though the fellowship represented a challenge I had yet to face, it was a familiar place to me because the small group of students, who were my fellows, were also newcomers to this institute seeking to challenge themselves and broaden their horizons, such desires that I have found common amongst all of us. Already, I have many wonderful memories and experiences such as a wonderful reception with university leaders, meeting with experts concerning fair trade and food safety, analyzing a popular movie’s social context, and learning about how to rock climb. Over just a short semester, the Eminence Fellowship has not only become an organization, or an honor, or even just a challenge to me, but it has become my home away from home for the next four years."

TJ is from South Point, Ohio. He plans to pursue a master's degree in Poltical Science and attend law school upon graduating from Ohio State. Congratulations TJ and we look forward to following you over the next four years!
