Leyla Tosun is a third year Ph.D. Candidate in Comparative Politics. Her research is in identity politics, focusing on immigrant and minority assimilation. In particular, she studies state assimilation policies, the link between language and identity, and the cross-generational transmission of identity. Her dissertation addresses the way that state policies influence minority assimilation outcomes, with a particular emphasis on Turkey.
Leyla received her B.A. in Foreign Affairs and Economics from the University of Virginia (2014) and her M.A. in Political Science from Ohio State University (2016).
