Major Requirements for Students Entering OSU Autumn Quarter 2000 or AfterIn order to earn a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science, you will need to complete all the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree through the Colleges of Arts and Sciences. Your major accounts for almost 25% of your whole degree program. The major in political science requires at lest 45 credit hours, all of which must be numbered at the 200 level or higher. At least 20 of the 45 hours must be taken at The Ohio State University. At least 30 of the 45 required hours must be numbered at the 500 level or above. These 30 hours may not include Political Science 593 [Independent Study] or courses from other departments that are part of the major program. At least 10 of the 30 hours must be taken at The Ohio State University, and these 10 hours may not include courses taken at another institution that receive credit under OSU numbers. Your major must include at least one course from a minimum of three different fields in political science. The fields are:
You must earn a grade of C- or higher in order for a course to count as part of your major. Your overall average grade in your major must be a 2.00 or higher for all courses, including those transferred to OSU from other institutions. Up to 10 hours of Political Science 589 (Internship credit) may be included in the major program. Up to 10 hours may be course work with subject matter related to political science in other departments. Your adviser must determine the relevancy of non-political science courses before you schedule and take them as part of your major. |
