Experimental Research

Experimental Laboratory

The PRL maintains a computer-based experimental facility, which includes nine powerful desktop computers and the software necessary to conduct a variety of experimental manipulations (including department licenses of MediaLab, DirectRT, and Qualtrics). This facility demonstrates the department's on-going dedication to its political psychology faculty, graduate students, and research.

The PRL's Media Lab (2049C Derby Hall) provides a top of the line video editing machine to give researches the ability to create cutting-edge simulations. In addition to these services, the PRL staff maintain a subject pool for both electronic and more traditional pen and pencil manipulations.

IRB Information

The Ohio State Office of Responsible Research Practices (ORRP) requires that all faculty and graduate students wishing to conduct research involving human subjects to take the online CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) course prior to submitting an IRB proposal. Information about CITI can be found here http://orrp.osu.edu/irb/training/.

More information including forms, dates for information sessions, and links to the IRB newsletter are located on Ohio State's IRB web site http://orrp.osu.edu/irb/.

If you have questions about the training or IRB application process, or for questions concerning the Experimental Lab or Subject Pool, please contact the current Subject Pool coordinator in Derby 2049F.
