Professor Neblo has research and teaching interests in political theory, political psychology, American politics, and in particular how these fields relate to each other. His dissertation, Thinking Through Democracy: Deliberative Politics in Theory and Practice, asks whether and how normative theories of deliberative democracy can be put into practice given the realities of modern politics. His current projects focus on the role of emotion in politics, the politics of health policy, the problem of sincerity in liberal theory, and narratives of identity in post-war political novels.
